Sodium bisulfate (NaHSO₄), or sodium hydrogen sulfate, is an acidic inorganic salt, a white crystalline powder with an acidic reaction, used to lower the pH of water and solutions in water treatment (swimming pools), metallurgy (pickling), the pulp and paper industry, and as a component of detergents, preservatives, in electroplating and the textile industry, acts as a mild acid reagent and reducing agent, but requires careful handling due to the possible release of sulfur dioxide gas.
